Transfiguration Catholic Church, Baltimore, Maryland (1887)
Transfiguration Catholic Community Parish was established by the recognition of the spiritual needs of a declining population of three urban parishes (St. Peter the Apostle, St. Martin of Tours and St. Jerome) in southwest Baltimore. The combined congregations merged into the Transfiguration Catholic Church on July 1, 2004.
John Tiedemann Inc. and John Pierce, Liturgical Designer, were commissioned by the Transfiguration Catholic Church to perform a historic study, including exposures, to develop a paint scheme based on historic colors, extensive flat and ornamental plaster repairs, implement a decorative paint scheme, which included faux finishes, stenciling, a 1500 sq. ft. New Mural of the Transfiguration, and extensive gilding. The work was successfully carried out by JTI’s team of artisans and craftspeople, restoring the church to its original state of grace.
